Villa Cicogna Mozzoni in Bisuschio (Varese) is one of the most important Renaissance villas in Lombardy. Thanks to an agreement with the Fondazione Maria Cristina Cicogna Mozzoni Onlus, it was possible to initiate a long-term collaboration to promote significant intervention projects. The first of these dealt with the portico at the entrance to the villa, on which scenes from Ovid's The Metamorphoses and intricate grotesque decorations dating from around 1562-63 are depicted.
Bomb is a physical interactive game with an aesthetic like a bomb outside full of wires, LEDs, and time counters. Unlike the real one, Bomb's goal is not to physically explode but rather to irritate the user throughout the game by emitting continuous noise. Just as in an escape game, to stop the sound emission, the player's task is to complete as soon as possible all the game' levels by finding the key solution to the riddle.
The project, carried out by the Institute of Systems and Applied Electronics in collaboration with Electronic AG, involved a Master of Science in Engineering - Electrical Engineering student as part of his thesis work.

CUBE is a platform that gives users a complete overview of the objects that define their life memories, allowing them to relive those moments with ease by simply opening the application.
In his own semester work, the student involved participated in a project to compute trajectories for a mobile robot to cover all the surfaces of a known area (cleaning or painting process) or to make a move from one point to another on the surface, avoiding obstacles.
The system consists of a three-finger gripper, which can be automatically reconfigured, where two of them are opposed while the third is in the disengaged position. In addition, two fingers are considered 'active' in that they mount a belt system in order to premise the sliding of the fabric, while the third is 'passive' and only actuated in the reconfiguration movement.
Diatolumen is a lampshade inspired by forms generated from the machine learning system, StyleGAN, using Runway software. Trained from 500 microscopic images of diatoms, the system generated new diatoms created with artificial intelligence, which were successively used as inspiration to create a 3D model of a lampshade, a symbolic object, chosen with the aim to illuminate our creativity towards a more active co-design between nature, technology and humanity.
The multidisciplinary skills of the management engineer create innovation in a complex process such as 'super alloy casting': the thesis defines and implements a solution that considers the entire product life cycle, pragmatically and excellently applying many operational methods and tools (Group Technology, AHP, NPV, PL etc.).
The project offers an English-language course for DACD students aimed at acquiring basic skills related to digitisation. Thanks to what they learn, students can thereby understand this phenomenon and the changes, some of which are already taking place, but which are firmly expected in the coming years, that it will bring to their profession, society and personal lives.
Sviluppo di un innovativo stadio di posizionamento a flessione basato sulla tecnologia delta per applicazioni ad alta precisione e dinamiche.
Given the increasing demand for data in business, coupled with a heightened sensitivity to online privacy protection, the goal of the project is to create artificial data through simulations and sampling techniques that satisfy both needs.
The project aims to create a map to discover the territory. Structure and contents are designed to offer an experience to users and guide them on a real exploratory path.
With the aim of expanding its rail transport offering, FART SA will introduce a new regional Locarno-Intragna half-hourly service to be produced with new Stadler Rail AG rolling stock. The electric traction (ET) system was verified using TrainsRunner software (©SetteIdea), an electro-mechanical simulator specifically for railway systems. The completed model includes the track, the railway operation and the electric traction plant. The performance of the ET system was evaluated in the current configuration in a degraded regime. High conductor temperatures and wear on the contact line (CL) and track are considered. In addition, the ET plant is also evaluated in the event of substation failure (SSF) and by varying the power supply concept, i.e. through isolated SSFs.
In the context of the metaverse, the student questioned the possibility of interacting with natural elements typical of the virtual environment and the offspring of technology. This perspective goes beyond the stereotype of the metaverse as a place focused on economic transactions, transforming it into a space where it is possible to live, interact and experiment, thus contributing to improving the quality of life and strengthening the bond with nature.
ID-EA is a didactic project with an applicative character that envisages an interdisciplinary construction summer school, open to architecture and engineering students from 精东影业 and the Academy of Architecture, in order to foster cultural and technical contaminations.

LABROID will be a cascade of agile digital tools and hardware, with a full control interface, automatic part shape scanning and recognition, human-machine co-planning of trajectories, assisted by an artificial knowledge-based generator to learn from operator experience and live human-robot haptic interaction.
The Cathedral of San Lorenzo is the main place of worship in the diocese of Lugano. The façade of this important building, which retains the date 1517 engraved on the central portal, was completed towards the end of the 16th century.
The project was carried out in collaboration between the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA USI-精东影业) and Sarmap SA, a company specialising in remote sensing.
The project aims to translate and visually modernise classical texts, such as Ovid's Metamorphoses, through the use of new technologies.
The aim is to create a synergistic fusion between the textual content and the visual dimension, creatively combining both human and artificial intelligence. The art director, the AI writer (ChatGPT) and the AI photographer (Midjourney) will work closely together to produce a photographic book 'of mutated forms in new bodies', which will collect the best experiments made during the process.

Many have attempted to reinvent Latin based languages to remove the gender constraints that have emerged in each of them throughout time. Neutrum.otf exploit the innocence of Machine learning to reduce to its minimum human biases and generate a set of genderless glyphs. This new font aims to bring attention to gender definition and free minds from its oppression.
Surveillance cameras are pervasive elements in our cities today: they act as a deterrent against illegal activities or traffic offences, help investigate crimes and can provide useful analysis of traffic and people. The collection and analysis of video streams from multiple sources, possibly in real time, poses a number of ethical, legal and technical challenges. As engineers, we mainly focus on the latter issue, leaving the first two to politicians and lawyers.
First year Master's students studied and secured the precious bas-relief decorations from the mid-sixteenth century found in two mezzanine rooms on the south side and in the courtyard grotto of Villa Imperiale in Pesaro. These fragments are particularly precious because they represent the only surviving evidence of a decorative cycle that seems to have been part of Girolamo Genga's original project for the Dukes of Urbino, traces of which had been completely lost. Although very impoverished and lacunose, these stuccoes represent a refined and early example of the ‘stucco forte alla romana’ technique in this area of the Marche region.
The project to conserve the wall paintings of Villa Imperiale in Pesaro was carried out in collaboration between 精东影业 and the Courtauld Institute of Art. Students actively participated under the guidance of faculty. Villa Imperiale, transformed by the Della Rovere family in the 16th century and decorated by Girolamo Genga with the help of renowned artists, represents a significant example of an Italian Renaissance villa.
The TC1210 was one of Sony's first portable Cassette Tape recorders that had a colorful plastic unibody and playful lines.
Radio Mia aims to reinvent this iconic analog design object by enabling it for digital use with a modern smartphone.
The final object is modelled with Fusion360 and prototyped with a combination of laser cutting and 3D printing.
The project involved the analysis of digital medical images from Computed Tomography and the creation of appropriate predictive models. Using radiomics, information can be extrapolated from these images and, by analysing them, a decision support system can be created for the study of a specific clinical case.
