The restoration was carried out following a preliminary study involving an initial historical-artistic research and a series of scientific investigations to clarify certain aspects of the painting technique, the materials used and, above all, the deterioration processes. On the basis of the data collected, the project, aimed at restoring the paintings and stucco frames, following the severe damage suffered over time, which resulted in phenomena such as lifting and peeling of the paint film. Consequently, the phase of securing the colour was extremely long and complex. Similarly, the cleaning of old materials from previous restoration works was carried out in a differentiated manner depending on the nature and state of conservation of the paint film and stucco cornices. Finally, a minor intervention of pictorial reintegration made it possible to restore greater legibility to the entire cycle, mitigating the chromatic imbalances caused by past conservation events.
