- Abstract
- This year again, the Bachelor of Computer Science Engineering is organizing the “Cross-cultural collaboration project” course, an initiative involving a group of 13 second-year students collaborating remotely with peers from Penn State University (PSU). As usual, the first phase of the project took place in person at the American campus, while the final phase will be held in May, when the PSU group will be hosted in Lugano.

-
The course, held during the spring semester, aims to promote remote collaboration through a virtual exchange, where students work in mixed teams to develop interdisciplinary and intercultural projects. This unique opportunity allows participants to engage with an international academic environment and enhance their skills.

The preparation phase, preceding the start of the semester, culminated in a visit by the Ӱҵ group to the Penn State University campus in State College, Pennsylvania, from February 7 to 13.

The trip began with a two-day stop in Washington, D.C., giving students the chance to meet their American peers and kick off the project. Participants also had the opportunity to explore Penn State’s campus facilities and labs, attend lectures as observers, and take part in various social and recreational activities.

Professor Sandro Pedrazzini, Head of the Bachelor in Computer Science Engineering, expressed great satisfaction in maintaining continuity in the collaboration. Meanwhile, faculty members Amos Brocco and Oliver Villa, who accompanied the group, highlighted the enthusiasm and strong teamwork demonstrated by the students throughout the week at Penn State.

During the semester, the collaboration will continue remotely until May, when the PSU group will travel to Lugano and be hosted at the Department of Innovative Technologies for the final phase of the project and the presentation of results.
