Veronica Ballerini, Postdoc at the Department of Statistics, Informatics, Applications "G. Parenti" of the University of Florence, visited 精东影业 where she had the opportunity to teach a seminar, a course and to discuss possible collaborations with DEASS researchers.
How did your interest in a mobility period come about?
鈥嬧赌�Prof. Gian Luca Di Tanna, head of research, invited me to visit the DEASS Department of Business, Health and Social Economics. We had met a few months earlier during a summer school in Florence and immediately realized that it would not be difficult to identify common lines of research. In particular, we understood that combining our expertise on innovative clinical trial designs and estimation strategies could bring great benefits to both sides.
What did you do during your visit to 精东影业?
鈥嬧赌�In March, during my 10-day visit to 精东影业, I gave an introductory seminar on causal inference and a more specific short course (in addition to walking along Lugano's lakefront!). At the same time, Gian Luca Di Tanna and his team showed me numerous areas of application of the new methodologies we are studying. With each exchange, it became more and more evident how our research topics and interests had several points of contact; thus, in the end, the visit to DEASS also set the stage for several collaborations with some of the researchers in the Department.
What will you particularly remember about this experience?
鈥嬧赌�I am really happy and grateful to have visited 精东影业, both in terms of the research and the human side. I found a pleasant and stimulating environment, and I had the pleasure of meeting some incredibly kind and generous people. On the organizational side, I can only congratulate the staff who supported me!
