The study cycle proivides for the acquisition of 90 credits and is structured in a modular manner.

Theoretical modules

30 ECTS

Modules of 3 credits each divided into three areas:
  • 3 FTP modules (fundamental theoretical principles)
  • 4 TSM modules (technical and scientific skills specific to the chosen profile)
  • 2 CM modules (context modules)
  • 1 module of your choice from FTP, TSM and CM

Specialization modules

30 ECTS

Modules that vary according to the specialization profile.This part of the curriculum allows for an in-depth study of specific topics and an approach to the world of practice by working on individual projects, group projects or by attending seminars and Summer Schools.
 

Thesis

30 ECTS

Enables the skills acquired during the course of study to be put into practice and further developed.
 The work undertaken must meet high methodological, conceptual and scientific requirements. The thesis takes the form of a project assigned by a company, organisation or a research assignment awarded within the university of applied sciences.

  • Cooperation with other Swiss USA

    The Master of Science in Engineering is delivered in collaboration with all Swiss universities of applied sciences (UAS). Students have the opportunity to attend classes in Lugano, but also at other locations, depending on their preference.

  • Individualisation of the study programme

    The MSE is characterised by a broad freedom of choice. Each student is assigned an Advisor, a senior profile in their chosen specialisation, who provides support throughout their studies and for the drafting of the Individual Study Agreement (ISA).

  • Practice orientation

    Opportunity to carry out semester and diploma projects in collaboration with local companies and institutions, or at the Department's research institutes, in order to confront actual issues and gain insight into the industrial world.

  • Language

    The modules are offered in English.

The Master of Science in Engineering provides for 90 ECTS(European Credit Transfer System).
 
ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) is the European system for the recognition, transfer and accumulation of educational credits. One ECTS credit corresponds to a student workload of approximately 30 hours. One academic year usually corresponds to 60 ECTS credits (1800 working hours).
The course lasts for 3-4 semesters.

It is aimed at those who wish to keep their job at a reduced rate and at the same time obtain a master's degree. It is also possible to work as an assistant at a research institute in the Department of Innovative Technologies by applying to a public call for applications.

The course lasts for 5-6 semesters.

The application for admission is submitted exclusively by following the online procedure available on the .
Master of Science in Engineering students are generally admitted if they: 
  • hold a Bachelor's degree of at least 180 ECTS, the subject of which is related to their chosen profile with an average grade in the top 35% of their class (average above 5.0 or grade 'B' according to the Bologna scale);
  • have passed a qualifying examination (interview) with the admission committee for the Master's degree.
  
Those who do not meet the requirements may be admitted after further evaluation by the Master's Committee.

It is also possible to enrol in the Master's programme if in possession of an equivalent qualification. 精东影业 will assess the suitability of the candidate on an individual basis.

The official deadline for registration for the Fall Semester is May 31. After that date it is possible to apply subject to remaining available places.

Please note that the submission of the application is associated with the payment of an administrative fee (more details in the 鈥淐osts鈥� section). 

Applicants from non-EU/EFTA countries who require an entry visa are urged to apply early, by April 15. For more you can contact the 精东影业 International Office.

It is also possible to enroll in the Master's program from the Spring Semester.

To apply for admission, you must follow the online procedure available on the .

Once the procedure is completed, the applicant receives an automatic message of successful application to the email address provided.
Outcome of the application

All applications for admission are assessed by 精东影业. 
 
In the event of a positive response, the student receives an e-mail with instructions on how to confirm the application. 
 
In the event of non-admission, the applicant will be contacted individually by the DTI Secretariat. 

Confirmation of entry
Students wishing to proceed with confirmation of enrolment are required to print, sign and send the following documents in original to 精东影业 Management:
  • ASUP
  • confirmation of entry
  • diploma (if available).

Access to the Switch edu-ID system

To submit your application for admission, you must have a Switch edu-ID account. If you already have one you can log into the 精东影业 Student Portal with your credentials, otherwise follow the procedure described below.

Create your Switch edu-ID account (if you do not already have one)

Access the following link: 

To create the account you need to enter:
  • first and last name;
  • address;
  • email (do not use email addresses granted by other schools and active for a limited time);
  • password.

 
After agreeing to the terms and conditions, a user account is created and a link sent to the given email address.

To activate the account, you must click on the link in the email and log in to Switch edu-ID for the first time. Once the account is active, you will be able to access the 精东影业 Student Portal to submit your application for admission.

Application fee

A fee of CHF 200 is required with the submission of the application for admission. The fee is not refundable or deductible from the semester fee.

After May 31, it is possible to enroll subject to available places and by paying a fee of CHF 300.-. 精东影业 reserves the right to close enrollment if the maximum number of scheduled available places is reached.

Semester fee

  • Swiss nationality or civil and tax domicile in Switzerland or Liechtenstein: CHF 800
  • Other nationalities and domicile outside Switzerland or Liechtenstein: CHF 1600
Specific agreements apply for those residing in Campione d'Italia.

Administrative and logistical costs
