Supports clinical practice through efficacy studies of rehabilitative interventions for people with disease or trauma outcomes of the neuromuscular system and develops tools and methods for the assessment of pain, movement, and disability.

Develops and tests therapeutic education interventions for people with fatigue caused by chronic diseases.

3D analysis of joint kinematics

Aims to quantify changes in joint movements in order to help clinicians and researchers optimise therapies and increase their effectiveness.

Multidimensional assessment of fatigue

Assesses fatigue through subjective (questionnaires, scales) and objective measures (maximal force reduction, fatigue indices extracted from EMG signal) in patients with neuromuscular diseases.

Promoting musicians' health and preventing musculoskeletal disorders

Promotes strategic and effective activities to improve the musician's health and performance and prevent disorders related to instrumental practice.

Assesses through innovative instruments the mechanical properties of healthy and pathological tendons.

Investigates factors associated with the development and persistence of pain in adolescents.

Mission and objectives

The laboratory's mission is to contribute to the development and improvement of knowledge in the field of rehabilitation, with a focus on the professional practice of physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
Specifically, the laboratory conducts projects mainly aimed at:
  • Study the effectiveness of rehabilitation interventions for major musculoskeletal and neurological disorders
  • Propose innovative rehabilitation interventions or pathways
  • Develop and validate original methods for the evaluation of patients with motor disabilities and chronic pain
  • Support teaching through the development of new digital technologies

Il Laboratorio sviluppa percorsi formativi in ambito riabilitativo su richiesta di enti o strutture cliniche.

Researchers in the Rehabilitation Research Laboratory are active in undergratuate education and Continuing Education of the Department of Business Economics, Health and Social Care (DEASS), disseminating the results of the most important clinical research with the aim of building a bridge between research and teaching. Upon request, the 2rLab also develops training paths in rehabilitation for clinical institutions or facilities.
  • Undergraduate Studies

    The lab's team of researchers is directly involved in the Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy, in the setting and management of the Evidence Base Practice (EBP) pathway, and other timely contributions within other clinical modules or within optional modules dedicated to clinical research and continuing education. Researchers regularly support students in their experimental and innovative thesis projects.

  • Continuing Education

    The 2rLab's Continuing Education offering is aimed at physical and occupational therapists who wish to expand and refine their knowledge. The lab intervenes by offering various inputs in seminars inside and outside ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ. These include, for example, the course "Dry needling and manual therapy in the treatment of myofascial trigger points" and the course on introducing occupational therapists to the "Energy Management Education" protocol.
