The term transcultural refers to the intersection, interaction and mutual influence between different cultures, highlighting the importance of a perspective that goes beyond the mere coexistence of different cultures. How counseling can foster integration and peaceful coexistence between implicit ways of doing things and rules characterizing each culture of belonging.

The webinar is divided into two moments, with the following purposes:

- Introducing the topic of transcultural counseling
- Acquire the information that diversifies it from other forms of counseling and what the common matrices are
- Learn about transcultural counseling in a historical and social context
- Acquire specific skills in counseling to work in diverse contexts and cultures
Webinar 2
November 21, 2025, 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
- Acquire skills on cross-cultural supervision
- Develop an integrated model of supervision
- Illustrate supervision in different cultural contexts
Speaker
Dr. Dione Mifsud is a past president of the International Association for Counselling (IAC). He served as president from 2012 to 2019. He is also a founder and former head of the Department of Counselling at the University of Malta from 2012 to 2021. Dione is also a former head of the Department of Psychology at the same university, a former head of the Counselling Unit at the University of Malta and former president of the Malta Association for the Counselling Profession (MACP). He designed and coordinated the first Masters in Counselling offered by the University of Malta. He also co-designed and coordinated an international Master's program in Transcultural Counselling with the University of Maryland at College Park (USA) and in collaboration with the University of the Cumberlands (USA). He also designed a postgraduate certificate in counseling supervision and co-designed a postgraduate certificate in Adlerian counseling. Her research interests include counseling practice, counseling ethics, counseling supervision, and cross-cultural counseling. Dione has been a harassment and bullying counselor at the University of Malta since 2014.

You can register for the entire course at the subsidized cost of 90 CHF or attend a single afternoon for 50 CHF. Please note, however, that the first webinar is preparatory to the second: for optimal enjoyment of the content, exclusive participation in the second meeting is not recommended.
