Once again this year, several young graduates from ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ were honored with prestigious awards, recognizing their academic excellence and innovative spirit. The recipients included students from the Department for Environment, Construction and Design (DACD) and the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI), alongside peers from the Università della Svizzera italiana and vocational schools across the Canton of Ticino.
The continues to play a vital role in supporting and empowering young professionals as they embark on their careers—an enduring demonstration of its strong commitment to fostering talent and innovation within the region.
TalenTicino Scholarship
The TalenTicino scholarships, valued at CHF 3,000, are awarded to students pursuing further studies at the Master's level. Among the recipients was Asia Grossi, who, after completing her ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Bachelor of Arts in Conservation, enrolled in the Master of Arts in Conservation-Restoration. Her scholarship recognizes not only her academic commitment but also her proactive engagement with the social and institutional contexts relevant to her field.
¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Bachelor Award
The ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Bachelor Awards, each valued at CHF 1,000, were granted to Simona Meisser (Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication) for her thesis Circoliamo: Educational Tools for Road Safety in Primary Schools of Italian-speaking Switzerland, and to Diego Fernando Agudelo Ledezma (Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering) for his thesis RGBD Object Detection: A Multi-Camera Vision System for Behavior Analysis in Micromobility.
Best Presentation Award
Awards were also given for the best thesis project presentations at ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ: Alber Meryamka (graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering) and Beatrice Piccoli (graduate of the Bachelor of Arts in Architecture) were recognized for the excellence of their work.
Startup Garage Award
Finally, a grant was awarded for the most promising ongoing projects at the Startup Garage of the Department of Innovative Technologies—an initiative dedicated to fostering entrepreneurial spirit. For the 2024 edition, Emanuele Barbieri and Franco Andrés Nazar were recognized for their project ClyMind – Bringing Commitment to Life, and Arianna Casamatta and Mélanie Turano for their project PawsPulse.
The ceremon, held at the Mercato Coperto in Mendrisio on Saturday 14 May, was attended by Andrea Graf, Head of Undergraduate Education at the Department of Innovative Technologies, and Jean-Pierre Candeloro, Director of the Department for Environment, Construction and Design. The award presentation offered a valuable opportunity for networking among representatives from partner companies, institutions, universities, and universities of applied sciences.
