â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹The Materioteca pursues a number of objectives geared above all to the support of all users through the provision of a rich collection of samples and related technical information.
General Objectives
- To provide support for users by making available up-to-date technical information about materials on the market.
- To enable users to orientate themselves in the vast, varied and complex reality constituted by today's offer of materials.
- To encourage a responsible and conscious choice of material, based not only on functional and economic criteria but also on the importance that the complete life cycle of materials has on the natural environment.
- To provide the Department for Environment, Construction and Design with an up-to-date and efficient Materials Library.
Operational objectives
- Organise a Materio library in which materials currently on the market are collected, stored and updated, classified and made accessible to the public through the creation of an on-line database.
- Provide the Materioteca with a permanent exhibition space that collects the main materials, from raw materials to the finished product, indicating the different production processes.
- Provide information on materials considering what has been developed by manufacturers, research and standardisation institutes.
- Collect and preserve products that are no longer on the market, as a record of product history.
- Collaborate and develop information exchanges with similar bodies in other schools or research institutes.
