PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are found in many everyday products, including food packaging, non-stick cookware, waterproof fabrics, cosmetics, firefighting foams, household cleaners, pesticides, and in various environmental matrices such as water and soil.
has confirmed that PFAS are hazardous to human health and the environment. In particular, they are considered 鈥渇orever chemicals鈥 because they do not degrade in the environment and can persist in the human body. ECHA has also outlined the next steps for a proposed restriction on PFAS under the REACH regulation, following a broad public consultation.
The event Focus on PFAS: Eternal Pollutants 鈥 A Comparison between Italy and Switzerland brings together experts from academia, industry, and institutions to network and foster opportunities for exchanging and sharing best practices.
