The Department of environment constructions and design ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ welcomed a Chinese delegation from Zhejiang University (ZJU) and the Architectural Design & Research Institute (UAD).
Twenty students (ten from the Chinese university and ten from the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Bachelor of Arts in Architecture) met in China in the spring, during the first session of the Sino-Swiss workshop, and are now meeting again to participate in the second stage.
The workshop offers a unique opportunity for exchange and collaboration between Chinese and ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ students, allowing them to get to know both realities. During an intense week in Mendrisio, they will address several crucial topics such as energy efficiency, the use and reuse of materials and structures, and the integration of renewable energy in buildings, promoting sustainable architectural design.
Undoubtedly an opportunity to meet new cultures and gain new experiences with the common goal of developing ideas and concepts for sustainable architecture, but also a friendship across the ocean.
The worskhop – now in its tenth edition and coordinated by architect Nicola Probst and Professor Francesco Frontini of the Institute for Applied Sustainability in the Built Environment ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ, with the collaboration of professors from Zhejiang University – has restarted this year, after having been interrupted, due to covid, in 2020.
