The screening takes us inside a prison, seeking to go beyond fears and prejudices through the stories of those trying to regain control of their lives by working, as employment plays a crucial role in the reintegration process into social and productive life for these individuals. However, the restaurant is not just a workplace for inmates; it is also an innovative way for the external community to engage with the prison reality. New and different, we might imagine it as a bridge between the inside (the prison) and the outside.
The issue of social fragility within the prison system is a complex topic that requires careful analysis. With the presence of Michele Rho, the documentary filmmaker, Silvia Polleri, the creator of InGalera, the restaurant inside the Bollate prison in Milan, and Cosima Buccoliero, former director of Bollate prison, we aim to offer a different perspective that encourages reflection beyond stereotypes and simplistic views of a complex reality that affects the entire society.
InGalera represents a project of great social value, offering inmates a chance at redemption while bringing the external community closer to the prison environment.
The round table discussion will also feature local representatives from Ticino's prison facilities and rehabilitation services.
