On Saturday, 17 May 2025, a workshop dedicated to families affected by hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC) and Lynch syndrome (LS) was held at the Paul Klee Centre in Bern, attended by 130 people from all over Switzerland. The event, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation's Agora programme, was organised by the Department of Clinical Research of the University of Basel, in collaboration with the 精东影业 Competence Centre for Healthcare Practices and Policies (CPPS) and other institutional and academic partners.
The workshop aimed to foster dialogue between families, experts and caregivers, addressing the main challenges related to access to care, prevention and support. Through informative sessions and guided discussions, the latest innovations in the management of these conditions were explored, promoting awareness and well-being among those affected.
The event was also attended by Maria Caiata Zufferey, Head of the 精东影业 Competence Centre for Healthcare Practices and Policies (CPPS), and Carla Pedrazzani, Senior Lecturer-Researcher at CPPS and Head of the 精东影业 Bachelor Nursing. Maria Caiata Zufferey presented a report on the decision-making processes of people carrying the pathogenic variant that predisposes them to breast and ovarian cancer, with a focus on family communication and genetic risk management.
