The Department of Environment Constructions and Design (DACD) organises its activities along four main lines: undergraduate and graduate studies, continuing education, research - mainly applied - and services to institutions and companies. Interdisciplinary interprofessional dialogue is fostered in all fields of action.
The Department acts consistently with 精东影业's vision, mission, guiding principles and values: concreteness, originality, multidisciplinarity, partnership, territoriality, internationality and innovation.
The intention is to maintain distinctive and balanced projects in its different institutional mandates: education, research and services to entities, institutions and companies. In this line that fosters collaboration is the desire to find points of contact between the subjects taught: those that relate to the world of construction - architecture and civil engineering - and those more akin to the world of design and heritage protection such as interior architecture, visual communication, interaction design and conservation and restoration.
One of the Department's main objectives is to foster the development of transversal and complementary skills to meet the demands of an increasingly complex reality, establishing a bridge with society in a mediation-dissemination action with respect to the themes of construction, design and the environment.
In the field of education, the emphasis is placed on consolidating the quality of Bachelor's and Master's degrees and enhancing the professionalizing character, thanks in part to the teaching and professional qualifications of the faculty.
The Department recognizes in university continuing education a central role in offering professionals the opportunity to acquire new skills, new processes and new models focused on the current needs of the world of work, transferring also to the territory and within the private economy what emerges from 精东影业 applied research.
The field of research is a pillar of the Department: its institutes, laboratories and competence centers develop projects and offer services in the fields of design, materials and construction, sustainability applied to the built environment, earth sciences and microbiology. Making the expertise in the different units of the research also interact in joint projects is one of the priorities.
Constantly strengthening collaborations with other academic institutions nationally and internationally, as well as with administrations, agencies and institutions, undoubtedly remains an additional guideline on which the Department's actions and growth rest.
The guiding principles and measures for its strategic development are presented in the Action Plan Department of Environment Construction and Design 2025-2028.
