from March 27th to 29th, 2025
from 14.00 to 17:00
The European Artistic Crafts Days are back once again this year, allowing visitors to enter various ateliers in the Canton Ticino; there are twenty on offer from 27 March to 4 April.
The degree course in Conservation and Restoration at ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ (Department of Environment Constructions and Design) is taking part in the event in order to draw the attention of the general public to the professions, workers and operators in a cultural sector that is still little known.
The team of the degree course – which is divided into two training courses (the Bachelor of Arts ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ in Conservation and the Master of Arts ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ in Conservation-Restoration) – will welcome young and old alike to the atelier on the ground floor of the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Campus in Mendrisio, amidst wall paintings, stuccoes, stones and pigments of all colours: a fascinating and vital world that constitutes our heritage and that must be treated with care.
Amidst materials, secrets and anecdotes, a visit to the atelier will provide an insight into how those involved in conservation and restoration work and what lies behind paintings and stuccoes. The visits, lasting about 45 minutes, are open to anyone who wants to make new discoveries and enter the doors of a very special atelier.
On Thursday 27 March, it will be possible to see first-year Bachelor students at work studying historical art techniques and the conservation of works of our cultural heritage.
Free visits between 14:00 and 17:00, in English, Italian and French.
