The experimentation took place in Italian primary schools in a context in which the educational need emerged to identify, describe and analyse the strategies that pupils use to acquire, process and utilise information in learning situations. The theoretical framework set up on experiential didactics made it possible to focus on the research topic, which was to assess whether the application of AAC with the aid of technology improves cognitive constructs (deconstructing a text, differentiating its parts and processing and organising the content detected) in the pupils.
The type of sampling was non-probabilistic accidental with an experimental group of 108 pupils and a control group of 86 pupils. Pre-post tests were designed, 12 work protocols for each of the experimental classes, observation grids for cognitive processes, logbooks and instruments with highly structured techniques for data analysis.
