What are you professionally involved in?
â¶Ä‹I am the Health Director of the Locarnese and Valmaggiorese Association of Assistance and Home Care (ALVAD). I am also involved as an external lecturer at ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ for some Continuing Education classes.
As ALVAD's Health Director, why do you think it is important for nurses working in the home to attend Continuing Education courses and, specifically, CAS Integrated Care?
â¶Ä‹In view of the public interest mandate, our Service is called upon to take care of a very varied caseload of patients, both in terms of pathology and complexity. These aspects, with a view to delivering quality interventions, require the acquisition of specialized skills and knowledge of the outreach social-health network. Last but not least, ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ's Integrated Care CAS allows for in-depth concepts of prevention and health education.
What are the specifics of the nursing role in territorial activity?
â¶Ä‹The home-based family nurse is responsible for assessing the user's care and treatment needs; he or she then develops an individualized care plan that takes into account the user's wishes and expectations with respect to care. Depending on the need, the nurse activates formal social-health outreach resources, subsidiary to the user's personal and family resources. He or she also performs a function of coordinating them so that the interventions deployed are targeted to the shared goals.
What benefits are found after training specialists with clinical-organizational skills in family and community nursing?
â¶Ä‹The nurse with training in family nursing has several tools at his disposal to assess and intervene in even medium- and high-complexity social welfare situations; his reach extends beyond the user's needs to the family unit and the community setting. He is also more sensitized to explore aspects of disease prevention and health promotion.
