The Swiss Design Association (SDA) is the national association of design professionals in Switzerland, supporting the design community in building networks and fostering collaboration since 1966.
In collaboration with the Institute of Design and FabLab ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ-Department of Environment Constructions and Design, SDA is organizing a meeting to present its activities along with a panel discussion on funding opportunities for design offered by Pro Helvetia - Swiss Arts Council and the Ikea Foundation Switzerland.
Speakers will include Dominic Sturm, President of the Swiss Design Association and founder of the studio Fond; Helen Muggli, Design Specialist at Pro Helvetia; and Raphaël Rossel, Managing Director of the Ikea Foundation Switzerland. The event will be moderated by Serena Cangiano, researcher at the Institute of Design and member of the SDA board.
The event will also feature the presentation of the Regenerative Vases project, supported by the Ikea Foundation Switzerland and developed by Sofia Petraglio during her studies in the Master of Arts ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ in Interaction Design, in collaboration with fellow students Alice Mioni, Alessandro Plantera, and Sophie Sprugasci. Regenerative Vases is an interdisciplinary, collaborative project focused on digital materiality and recycled landscapes. It explores the intersection of waste material research, product design, visual communication, and interaction design. The project celebrates sustainable design and advanced digital fabrication by restoring value and dignity to fragments of marble and stone discarded by quarries in Italian-speaking Switzerland.
The event – public, held in English, and free of charge – will take place on Thursday, 15 May 2025, from 17:00 to 19:00 at the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Campus of the Department of Environment Constructions and Design in Mendrisio, on the central ramp. Final aperitif included.
