The hiking week is a regular event at DFA/ASP. Every year, Bachelor students in the second cycle are offered hikes in the Ticino region, with the aim of developing the skills needed to plan and lead hikes for fourth and fifth grade classes. The trekking and study routes of the 2024 edition take in Breno, San Giorgio, Rodi-Fiesso, Lucomagno, Nara, Camperio and Ghirone.
The subject areas covered range from consolidating map reading to determining walking times and kilometre-effort, preventing accidents and providing first aid, and assessing weather conditions. The study of the environment in the sense of visiting and exploring natural environments and sites of cultural importance in our canton is the focus of the interdisciplinary training sessions. The various excursions also serve as a stimulus for interdisciplinary didactic approaches.
