Italian and mathematics are usually regarded as distant disciplines. In recent years, some research and teaching practices have brought these two worlds closer together, bringing them together from an ‘Italalmatic’ perspective.
In the Breakpoint meeting, the similarities and differences in the acquisition of the alphabetical and numerical code in a first grade class in Ascona are investigated, proposing activities that link the two disciplines together.
