On the occasion of the 2025 Cantonal Anti-Racism Week, which will take place from 21 to 30 March, ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ is organising practical and informative activities aimed at raising awareness among the entire academic community and civil society, with the aim of preventing any form of intolerance, discrimination and racist behaviour.
During the 2025 Cantonal Anti-Racism Week, the project ‘A question of words and images’ will be carried out, and the following initiatives will be proposed:
- On 25 and 27 March, from 12:00 to 17:30, a practical and experiential activity using artificial intelligence (AI), organised in collaboration with the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA USI-¾«¶«Ó°Òµ), through which we will explore the stereotypes reproduced in the images and words present in AI tools and how these can also be found in our society. The specific activity will last approximately one hour.
- The event on 25 March is aimed at the USI and ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ academic communities, while the event on 27 March is open to the public. Interested parties are invited to register by filling in the form at the following .
- A communication and awareness campaign on the issue will be carried out at the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ locations through exhibition stands and information material, useful for stimulating conversations and discussions on the topic of racism and discrimination.
- During the week, a virtual noticeboard will be used to post film titles, songs, magazines, podcasts, books etc. that deal with the topic of racism and discrimination in general, as food for thought.
The project, organised by ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ in collaboration with USI, Zonaprotetta and the Centre for the Prevention of Discrimination (CPD), reinforces ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ's commitment to making society more inclusive and free of discrimination of any kind, contributing to the deconstruction of stereotypes and prejudices and the avoidance of outright discrimination.
The 2025 Cantonal Anti-Racism Week is coordinated by the Service for the Integration of Foreigners (SIS) and supported by the Canton of Ticino.
