Alberto Norzi was a prominent figure in the educational landscape of Ticino, serving as director of the Scuola Magistrale in Locarno. In addition to his managerial role, Norzi actively contributed to the pedagogical debate of the time, as evidenced by a long article published in L'Educatore della Svizzera italiana, written together with Giuseppe Pelloni. This text offers an insight into the discussions and school reforms in Ticino in the 1930s, highlighting Norzi's commitment to promoting modern and inclusive education. storiascuola.supsi.ch storiascuola.supsi.ch
His contribution is also documented in the Alberto and Alba Norzi Fund at the DFA/ASP Library, a unique collection of material related to the Scuola Magistrale, mathematics and logic, offering a glimpse into the past of the pedagogical approach. biblioteche.supsi.ch
Among the various files in the Alba and Alberto Norzi donation, currently being processed by the DFA/ASP librarians, we would like to highlight the one dedicated to the Locarno Pact.
The Pact was the result of a diplomatic conference of European importance, held in October 1925 in Locarno, which concluded with the signing of a series of agreements aimed at promoting peace and stability in Europe in the post-war period.
During the proceedings, the mayor of Locarno, Giovan Battista Rusca, was introduced into the conference hall, where he was welcomed by Chamberlain, head of the British delegation and a central figure in the negotiations.
The entire Norzi collection, donated in 2024 by his daughter Alba to the DFA/ASP — formerly a teacher at the Scuola Magistrale and librarian at the Liceo di Locarno for many years — will be officially available for consultation from November.
