What does it mean to experience a fall? What does it feel like to be left on the ground, unable to move? To be unable to distinguish immediately where the way back is? What does it feel like to mirror yourself without recognising yourself? And, finally, to see in the reflection new parts, those shadowy parts that tell of a stage in the transformation of the self, capable of illuminating new steps?
The performance ‘Beyond the ashes’ creates a restitution of three stories that go through falls in the biographical path, where each one finds in the ashes a new ground where to reflect and rise again.
The mise-en-scène is realised and presented by the students of the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Bachelor Social Work within the module Methods and Techniques of Intervention with Psychic Distress. The collaboration with Club ‘74, the students of the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana, the Ingrado Foundation - addiction services, Pro Mente Sana Ticino and the Cantonal Sociopsychiatric Organisation has been renewed for over ten years.
The story of Cinderella provides a backdrop to the performance, opening up a range of interpretations and metaphorical connections that leave room for the reflection of each and every one:
‘To go on stage carrying, with all possible care, the narrative of people who have agreed to share important parts of their lives, represents for our students a great responsibility: the responsibility to bear witness to the value of each existence, the responsibility to support growth even in the falls, the responsibility to feel community towards all those who struggle on their journey, starting with those close to them.’
Lorenzo Pezzoli, ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ course director
‘Wonderful, young, surprising.’
Consuelo, President Club ‘74
An alchemic, theatrical, musical journey that intends to go through the stages of the fall, remembering that every life story has in it shadows and lights, voids and meanings.
