Deals with polymeric materials science and technology applied to surface engineering and formulation engineering.

Deals with the development of products, machines, mechanical and mechatronic systems.

Hybrid Materials Laboratory

Conducts applied research in the field of materials science and technology, with special emphasis on the study of porous ceramic materials.

Computational Materials Science Laboratory

It focuses on the study of new materials with controlled dynamic properties by integrating molecular modeling, computational simulations and machine learning.

Thermo-fluid Dynamics Laboratory

Deals with thermodynamics and fluid dynamics problems through development, optimisation and thermo-fluid dynamics analysis of industrial components and systems.

Researchers of the Institutes contributes to the undergraduate and graduate studies activities of the Department of Innovative Technologies, especially with regard to the Bachelor's degree courses in Mechanical Engineering and Engineering and Management, as well as to some teaching and scientific activities within the Master of Science in Engineering.

The Institute has several laboratories conducting research activities. Collaboration with companies and institutions is preferably based on the development of innovative projects through third-party, cantonal, federal or European funding. On request, services are also offered and direct mandates for companies or other partners are carried out.
