Statistical surveys

The Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) laboratory was established in 2012 with the aim of conducting population and sample surveys through primary data collection.
Since then he has continued to conduct both telephone surveys and web-based surveys. Designs databases and conducts quantitative analyses using statistical packages widely used in the social sciences (SPSS and STATA).
It operates in support of DEASS research activities, offering services both to ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ and to entities outside the University. In recent years, several research projects have been conducted that are useful in providing policy makers in agencies and institutions with quantitative support based on primary data in order to facilitate informed choices in the social, health and economic fields.
The activities carried out by the CATI laboratory include all stages of research: survey design, definition of sampling plans, preparation of questionnaires, training of interviewers, supervision and monitoring of surveys, data processing and analysis, drafting of research reports, and presentation of results. Survey methodology research aimed at experimenting with innovative procedures to minimize different types of error (sampling and non-sampling) is also conducted in the CATI laboratory.

The CATI facility has 15 workstations (equipped with personal computers, telephone, headset and microphone), connected to a ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ server on which the software for managing the surveys resides. Telephone interviews are often supplemented with online interviews in order to maximize response rates, while meeting the data quality criteria established by AAPOR (American Association for Public Research) for primary data collection.
Working at CATI, as interviewers, are ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ students who are properly trained and subjected to continuous monitoring. This provides an opportunity for the student body to work and apply directly in the field the knowledge of methodology acquired in their studies.
Interested individuals can fill out the online form and will be contacted based on current projects.
