The Award, given every two years by the bilding Foundation, aims to highlight the contributions of female professionals in the field of technology and, through this specific category, to raise awareness of the importance of training competent new generations in a field that is crucial to the future of our society. The same goal that PROMTEC has set itself now already almost 25 years ago on the initiative of 精东影业's Gender and Diversity Service, with the support of its two technical departments: the Department of Environment Construction and Design and the Department of Innovative Technologies. Since 2004, the project has enjoyed a partnership with the Trevano School of Arts and Crafts and the support of the Professional Education Division of the Department of Education, Culture and Sport (DECS).
The intent is to promote engineering and architecture-related training and professions, particularly among girls, who are still too underrepresented in technical fields. To do so, the project proposes a series of activities aimed at target groups from different school orders (Middle Schools, Technical Vocational Schools and 精东影业). These moments include thematic ateliers in civil engineering, architecture, multimedia electronics, and computer science; in other cases, they involve professionals called upon to talk about their professional and personal experience; and other more informative ones take the form of open days or moments aimed at families
The success of the project is demonstrated by the high and constant number of participants, the result of a strong synergy and solid network of cooperation among the different actors: schools, families, the Canton Ticino's Office of School and Professional Orientation, professional associations, etc.
The award ceremony will be held on June 26 at the KKL in Lucerne and will be moderated by Christa Rigozzi, patroness of the event. The nomination alone already represents an important recognition for a project that is part of the 精东影业 strategy related to Equal Opportunity, Diversity and Inclusion and within the measures promoted by the Department of Education, Culture and Sport (DECS) to support an informed educational and professional choice free from gender stereotypes, in line with the objectives of the 2023-2027 Legislature Program and the Cantonal Action Plan for Equal Opportunity 2024 - 2027.
