Contrary to common perception, the concept of privacy is far from individualistic, instead manifesting as the perfect synthesis of diverse needs stemming from various social actors, leading to the creation of a highly multifaceted assumption. The right to privacy is undoubtedly a fundamental right, but it is not to be understood as absolute: it is strongly influenced by the socio-cultural climate in which it seeks to assert itself and is significantly affected (and one might say even hindered) by the contingencies and state of the art related to a particular historical period. Indeed, the globalization of economies, combined with the latest sensational advancements in ICT (Information and Communication Technologies), has given rise to the so-called "Data Driven Economy," a universe in which data protection struggles to assert itself, often becoming the losing counterpart to prevailing (public and private) interests. In this regard, and in light of the recent entry into force of the new Federal Data Protection Act (FDPA), the event will analyze the current challenges faced by Data Protection in light of new international developments in the fiscal field, which, in implementing the principle of international tax transparency through information exchange tools, often risk sidelining the protection of personal data.
