Sustainable Buildings and Constructions
The Sustainable Buildings and Constructions team deals with the sustainability of the building, from its conception to its construction, its life cycle and its insertion into the environment.
The team's mission is to develop concrete approaches and innovative solutions to achieve the ambitious goals of a sustainable society.
The team deals with all issues related to sustainable living: energy (thermal and electrical), grey energy, the water cycle, food production, biodiversitỳ in the built environment (flora and fauna), reversibilitỳ of construction work, mobility. This change cannot̀ only be technological (energy efficiency and use of renewable energy vectors), but also behavioural by introducing the concept of responsibility and sobriety in a circular construction economy.
Sobriety also translates into a focus on the built heritage as an available structure and cultural value.
The group alternates between research, consultancy and training activities (basic and continuing). In the field of applied research, objectives are pursued with respect to both the development of state-of-the-art sustainability standards and the transfer of these approaches into the design, realisation and operation of buildings.

- developing and proposing circular economy approaches, methods and building materials.
- promoting and researching building materials and systems that can meet all the parameters of sustainability
- apply and develop approaches to the design and construction of buildings that consider their entire life cycle
- apply and develop sustainability standards from the building to the neighbourhood scale in both new buildings and the renovation and conservation of existing ones
- evaluating low-tech sustainability strategies in both new buildings and the renovation and conservation of existing ones
- develop innovative models for inhabiting planet Earth through concrete projects for transition in the various building sectors.
