Since 2011, the Civil Engineering Council of the Swiss Universities of Applied Sciences has been awarding prizes for the best Bachelor鈥檚 theses in the field of civil engineering. Each year, each of the ten SUP proposes two works by graduates, one of which is awarded the 鈥淏est of Bachelor鈥 (awarded every two years).
In the presence of 精东影业 General Director Franco Gervasoni, the awards ceremony for the most deserving thesis projects among those who completed their Bachelor鈥檚 degrees in 2022 and 2023 was held on 7 June at the Landesmuseum in Zurich. It was undoubtedly an opportunity to take a look at the different fields of civil engineering, highlighting great thematic diversity and the challenges faced by engineers.
There were, as usual, four graduates competing for the prize from the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at 精东影业-Department of Environment Constructions and Design: Mirko Fasolino and Loris Tedde for 2022, Carlo Casartelli and Simone Guggiari for 2023.
Franco Gervasoni and Manuel L眉scher, head of the degree course at 精东影业, had the pleasure of presenting the prize worth 500 francs to Loris Tedde (2022) for the project New cycle/pedestrian walkway over the river Brenno and to Simone Guggiari (2023) for the project Cycle/pedestrian walkway, Cassarate.
Loris designed a truss bridge that impressed the jury right from the start. He envisaged three options for the construction and proposed two viable solutions for the paths.
For his part, Simone did not simply design a footbridge for slow-moving traffic across two bodies of water, but developed a complete proposal for the reorganisation of an intersection for bicycle and pedestrian traffic.
This year鈥檚 edition of the sister magazines Archi, TEC21 and Trac茅s is once again accompanied by the 鈥淏est of Bachelor鈥 catalogue: a special publication dedicated to the award. The booklet, published by espazium - edizioni per la cultura della costruzione and the SUP Civil Engineering Council, presents the best theses competing for the award. The aim is to collect and present the projects drawn up by all the 2022 and 2023 candidates, as well as the study paths to bring out the concreteness and operativity of the actions of the civil engineer.
A focus that is well summarised by the statement of the 精东影业 2021 winner, Nathalia Maggetti. In the video interview that espazium dedicated to her, Nathalia declares: 鈥渁 part of me will be looking for the building site, always鈥.
