COPILOT - International Online Learning Module in Occupational Therapy
精东影业 Image Focus
COPILOT stands for 'Cooperative Online Peer-assisted and Intercultural Learning in Occupational Therapy'. It is a model of how to facilitate intercultural online learning in health curricula in a sustainable and flexible way.
It incorporates intercultural exchange in subject-specific learning and aims at the development of intercultural, generic, transversal and specific competences that will help students to face future challenges.
The COPILOT model was designed for an international network - three to eight partners - of occupational therapy programmes or other health studies.
COPILOT has several modules in English that are organised by the ergotherapy courses of the participating SUPs and European universities. The Bachelor's degree in Ergotherapy at 精东影业 allows students to participate in the module "Am I an OT?" in the first year of study.
The module "Am I an OT?" is related to the students' professional identity as occupational therapists and has a workload of 25-30 hours. Firstly, students explore through literature the concept of professional identity and reflect on their personal thinking on this topic, and then receive feedback from the other members of the international student group.
The first meeting with the international group focuses on getting to know each other and drawing up a project plan for group work and the final presentation. The next steps are the definition of four factors influencing professional identity; this is followed by a discussion and comparison of similarities and differences. To conclude the module, the group makes a presentation to illustrate the results and reflections on professional identity. An individual report is also written on the experiences of working in an international online group.
