from November 09th to 10th, 2024
Counseling is not only about a professional relationship, but also about a creative and proactive way of experiencing existence and relationship with others. For this reason, creativity becomes the subjective but not individualistic way of responding to emerging needs in today's complex society. The I-you but also I-we relationship, the valorization of difference, the creative use of nonverbal channels supported also by neuropsychological research, attention to nature and the transfer of experiences of "good practices" in the territory are the central topics of the conference.
Special attention will be paid to the account of international training experiences and possible evolutions of the profession in the European context. The choice to bring the term creativity closer to counseling honors that social and humanistic matrix that has characterized it since its origins: if counseling is a professional activity within a relational process, but also a way of seeing oneself and the Other, then solutions can only draw on individual and social creativity and not on static pre-established protocol paradigms.
The relationship allows the person to expand his or her internal map through confrontation with multiple points of view and generate, through the concept of the zone of proximal development, potential growth by virtue of the counsellor's function of guidance and accompaniment. We define creativity as the ability to shift one's point of view to observe things in a different way; to change, so to speak, the angle of observation and thus be able to recognize other possibilities, identify other tools to cope with events or situations that we habitually encounter.
Counselling and creativity thus become two sides of the same coin that can characterize a professional relationship at various levels and, at the same time, educate the protagonists to see themselves, the world and others not as a hostile and static environment but as a rich, transformative and collaborative environment, a generator of a multifaceted and respectful humanistic culture.
The conference aims to talk about this combination to enrich the professional and human culture of the participants. The interventions are aimed at expanding the concept of creativity, as a way of being in the world, where complexity is not a limitation but a possibility and a resource of which, counseling, can become a generative mode and transformative learning. The program will therefore focus on a vision of the human being in which all channels, sensory, verbal, emotional, and behavioral, will be taken into account for an integrated and integral view of becoming human
