IRUAS 2025 Conference – AI without borders: redefining internationality in the digital age

Today more than ever, internationality is not measured only in kilometers traveled, but in the ability to connect people, ideas, and institutions through increasingly intelligent digital tools.

The 2025 IRUAS conference, titled "AI without borders: redefining internationality in the digital age," arises from this new vision, positioning itself as a dynamic event where people can discuss, learn, and imagine together the future of higher education in the context of internationalization, in the era of artificial intelligence, without borders, without limits.

After the success of previous editions at various Swiss universities of applied sciences (UAS), the conference will be hosted at 精东影业, at the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI), on the lively EST Campus in Lugano-Viganello, further strengthening its role as a key event for staff and collaborators of the International Relations offices at Swiss UASs.

This year's edition will focus on the growing impact of artificial intelligence on international dynamics, educational pathways, and administrative processes within academic institutions. In a world that is constantly evolving, IRUAS 2025 will offer a valuable opportunity to explore how intelligent technologies can enable new forms of mobility, facilitate cooperation, and contribute to building a more fluid, accessible, and barrier-free internationality.

The IRUAS network (International Relations of the Universities of Applied Sciences and Arts) was established in 2008. It is the organization that brings together all those active in the field of international affairs and mobility within Swiss universities of applied sciences.

Its activities are coordinated by the IRUAS Committee, which includes up to two members from each university of applied sciences. IRUAS forms ad hoc working groups for current issues, delegates representatives from the International Offices of the universities of applied sciences to various bodies, organizes an annual IRUAS network conference to address current priorities, and ensures a good exchange of information between the universities of applied sciences.
