Club '74 was born in Mendrisio fifty years ago with the aim of including people with psychological and social disorders in the decision-making processes of Ticino's sociopsychiatric reforms.
An inclusive philosophy that immediately involved the users of the Cantonal Psychiatric Clinic (CPC), the Residential, Recreational and Work Center (CARL) and the facilities of the Cantonal Sociopsychiatric Hospital (OSC), who were called upon to organize countless social, cultural and recreational activities over the years, always with therapeutic and social reintegration purposes.
Along its journey, Club '74 has collaborated with ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ on several fronts. In particular, it has forged ties with the Department of Business Administration, Health and Social Work, where the Center for Applied Psychology Skills led by Prof. Lorenzo Pezzoli operates. These synergies have given rise to awareness-raising initiatives such as information days on mental health, or theatrical performances on the themes of mental distress devised by the students of the Bachelor in Social Work.
But for ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ, collaborations with Club '74 also take the form of students' thesis work that takes into analysis the relational experiences of the association's users, or the participation of social inclusion art projects, in which students from the Department of Environment Construction and Design have taken part in the past.
As part of the association's 50th anniversary celebrations, a dinner show entitled Feeding on Hope will be staged at the Casvegno Social Center Theater on Friday, May 10.
Indeed, hope will be the central theme of this immersive experience between food, music and theater that will also host Prof. Gian Piero Quaglino, an extraordinary witness in the field of contemporary psychology and author of the volume that inspired the discussion topics of the meeting.
