November 28th, 2023
from 08:30 to 17:30
The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines domestic violence, and specifically violence against women, as a serious public health problem and a violation of women's human rights. Estimates published in 2021 show globally that about one in three women worldwide have experienced physical and/or sexual violence by their partner or sexual violence by a third party in their lifetime. Domestic violence touches all areas of the victim's life; it can negatively affect women's physical, mental, sexual and reproductive health. The social and health sector has an important role to play in providing comprehensive assistance and is often a point of first contact for victims and, therefore, a privileged access to specialist services to support and accompany them in their needs.
