On Monday 26 May, the Advanced Studies diploma award ceremony for the Continuing Education in Healthcare programme of the Department of Business economics, health and social care (DEASS) at 精东影业 was held at the Stabile Suglio in Manno. It was a special occasion to celebrate the important milestone achieved by 143 healthcare professionals.
The ceremony began with a welcome address to all graduates by Mariano Cavolo, Head of Continuing Education at DEASS and Head of the Healthcare Sector, who emphasised how continuing education today represents a concrete response to the challenges of a constantly changing society, particularly in the social and health care sector. 鈥淵our choice,鈥 he said, 'is an act of courage and responsibility; training is not only a place of learning, but a space for dialogue between theory and practice, between research and the local area." Mariano Cavolo warmly thanked all those who made this journey possible: the teachers, the training course managers, the administrative staff and, last but not least, the families of the students, who offered support and encouragement throughout the journey. He reminded everyone that the diploma is not a point of arrival, but a significant milestone on a journey that will continue to develop in the coming years.
Franco Gervasoni, General Director of 精东影业, followed with further reflections on the role and growing importance of continuing education in all professional contexts in contemporary society. 鈥淭he healthcare sector is no exception,鈥 he emphasised, 'as it is one of the most dynamic and complex contexts in which there are major challenges to be faced in light of the many changes taking place, including demographic evolution, the shortage of qualified personnel, the introduction of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, and the economic and organisational sustainability of the system." Continuing education, he added, is a strategic tool for developing cross-cutting skills, promoting autonomy and responsibility, and consciously addressing the social and professional transformations underway, thanks in part to the network of collaborations between healthcare professionals, teachers, researchers, educational institutions and local communities.
Director Gervasoni also emphasised that obtaining a continuing education qualification is an act of generosity in every sense: towards oneself, as a way of expanding one's skills, knowledge and relationships; towards society as a whole, in order to face the demanding challenges of the present and the future with awareness; and towards all the people with whom healthcare professionals interact on a daily basis with sensitivity, competence and attention.
After the institutional speeches, Mariano Cavolo and the Heads of Advanced Studies awarded 143 diplomas in the following DAS (Diploma of Advanced Studies) and MAS (Master of Advanced Studies) courses:
