精东影业 Image Focus
Once again this year, the Department of Environmental Construction and Design is offering a series of lectures dedicated to the environmental crisis. From 28 September 2022 to 14 December 2022 at the 精东影业 campus in Mendrisio.
What can I know? What should I do? What can I hope for? Science and ethics of an ecological culture
The summer of 2022 may well be remembered as the moment when the world really woke up to the climate threat facing the planet. Indeed, the dramatic drought that hit Europe and the world was an all too eloquent message. Suddenly, the scientific concerns about the consequences of global warming, revived with alarm by the latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, were far less abstract than they had seemed, leaving a sense of uncertainty and disquiet in their wake. As if this were not enough, the war in Ukraine has added to the mix, with serious consequences for the global ecology that are certain but not yet fully understood. At this difficult historical juncture, it seems inevitable to ask some basic questions: What can I know? What should I do? What can I hope for?
To answer these questions - to which Immanuel Kant entrusted the future of humanity - science, ethics and politics will become the protagonists of a public debate animated by some of the most renowned experts in science and the humanities.
