Quality for research
Three processes with reference to research projects, the research of affiliated Departments and Schools, and research results.
¾«¶«Ó°Òµ researchers contribute daily to the creation of research products and results and to the resolution of complex problems, with the involvement of companies, institutions or the local community, often in cooperation with external and international partners.
We regularly assess through formalised procedures and tools the quality of our research by means of three QAS processes (P7, P8, P9), which actively involve all the main research players, both internal and external stakeholders.
The three processes 'Process 7 - Research Projects', 'Process 8 - Evaluation of Research and Services of Departments and Affiliated Schools' and 'Process 9 - Valorisation of Research Results', make use of quantitative quality indicators for
the preparation of periodic analysis or budget reports.
Following a recent revision, the processes now include new and important aspects relating to sustainability and equal opportunities in research and a larger number of quality indicators than before.
Researchers and project leaders are directly and/or indirectly involved in the processes, as well as other bodies, such as the Research, Development and Knowledge Transfer Directorate, the Research Commission, the Ethics Commission, the Quality Commission, the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Executive Board, the departmental directorates, as well as the Finance and Controlling, Personnel, Legal and Communication Offices, and the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Equal Opportunities and Sustainability Groups.
Like all other ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ quality processes, research processes are also subject to periodic evaluation by external assessors.

The P8 process - Evaluation of research and services of Departments and Affiliated Schools
Process P8, the evaluation of the quality of research and services of Departments and Affiliated Schools, is part of the 22 processes of the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Quality Assurance System.
The objectives of the P8 process are mainly twofold:
- The improvement of the quality of research and services with reference to the framework conditions, with regard to the results of previous evaluations, external peer review and taking into account the relevance and quality of research and service performance both in terms of scientific results and in terms of social impact (quality consistent with the national and international state of the art).
- The measurability of results.
The P8 process involves the compilation of a self-evaluation report by each Department or Affilieted School, and a periodic visit (audit) to each Department or Affilieted School by external evaluators, in order to encourage comparison with a view to the continuous improvement of practice, results and valorisation in research.
The ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Management is responsible for annual planning of evaluations, while the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Council receives the results of evaluations upon request. Responsible for the P8 process is the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Director of Research, Development and Knowledge Transfer.
In the current year (2024) self-evaluation and external evaluation are in progress for the Department of Formation and Learning and the affiliated school Accademia Teatro Dimitri.
