What reasons prompted you to choose the Occupational Therapy course at ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ?
Occupational Therapy addresses a wide range of challenges, from physical disabilities to mental difficulties, and often provides creative solutions to help people overcome everyday challenges. There are several reasons why I decided to pursue the path at ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ. Perhaps the most important is my passion for helping others, which stems from the fact that I myself was helped during my rehabilitation a few years ago. Experiencing first-hand the potential positive impact of occupational therapy prompted me to embark on this career with the desire to make a difference in the lives of others. How would you describe your experience as a student and which features of the Bachelor's degree are you enjoying the most?
At first it was not easy to approach a full-time course of study that requires you to attend numerous modules, specific to the profession and in common with other courses in the healthcare area. However, ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ pushes you to bring out the best in yourself, while at the same time growing as a person and as a future professional.
A highlight of the training course is, from the very first year, the opportunity to carry out internships to put into practice the theory learnt during lectures. This allows you to see the profession 'in the field' in all its professional and relational aspects.
As part of your Bachelor's degree, you had the opportunity to get closer to the world of research by carrying out a project at the Centre for Practical Skills and Health Policy. Can you tell us about the value of this experience, which adds to the strong combination of theory and practice of the various ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ degree courses?
Participating in research projects during my studies can offer several advantages, primarily being able to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired during the courses to real-life situations. During my project at the Centre for Practical Skills and Health Policy, I feel that I acquired specific skills in the field of research, such as data analysis, reviewing scientific literature and formulating hypotheses. Furthermore, working on research projects can provide the opportunity to collaborate with experts in the field and receive direct feedback.
In general, the combination of theory and practice in degree courses is crucial to prepare us students for the real world. Integrating practical experiences, such as research projects, within the academic curriculum can provide a more comprehensive education and future opportunities in one's field of study.
