Samuele Beretta works at the Regional Protection Authority 3 (ARP3) in Lugano; he is currently attending CAS Case Management to strengthen skills in situation management and interprofessional collaboration.
What motivated you to attend CAS Case Management?
â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â€‹â¶Ä‹In 2020 I received my Bachelor's degree in Social Work with a focus on social work and also in the same year I began my professional activity at the Regional Protection Authority of Lugano (ARP) where I still work full time.
In these years I have often come across complex work situations that have involved the need to deal with multidisciplinary work teams and professional networks; in other situations I have instead had to set up, sometimes in urgency, work networks in situations without territorial support.
One of the most fascinating and sometimes time-consuming challenges of my work is certainly that of fostering collaboration among professionals from different fields, both internally within the Authority, which is composed of a multidisciplinary college, and externally where professionals from different specialized fields confront each other.
With the goal of strengthening my skills in terms of situation management and interprofessional collaboration, I identified CAS Case Management as an interesting opportunity for professional growth.
How would you describe your experience attending CAS?
â¶Ä‹I consider that of CAS Case Management a multidisciplinary experience that allows one to acquire skills even in areas that are not necessarily those of belonging and specialization. The great professional heterogeneity of the course participants allows them to observe the limits of their own intervention and demonstrates once again how the approach to the situation must be individualized and must integrate different disciplines.
The proposed experience is certainly enriching in professional and individual terms provided we are willing to get involved by considering ourselves not as the only solution but as part of a much more articulated system.
How do you plan to integrate the skills gained from attending CAS into your professional practice?
â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â€‹â¶Ä‹The work of the AARP requires the use of a systemic approach that allows it to observe, assess and determine itself in life situations of individuals and families that are often very intricate and therefore imply as complete a response as possible that takes into account all the aspects involved and how they interact with each other. The AARP may not always have internally all the resources needed to fully understand the situation and then propose or decree an intervention in support or protection. In these situations it is necessary to seek the intervention of public and private services and professionals in the area with whom the need for coordination is often imposed.
Through CAS Case Management it is possible to learn tools and strengthen skills useful to develop an organizational functioning also aimed at creating synergies between different professional and private figures through which to finally succeed in co-constructing an intervention aimed at promoting a response that takes into account the interaction of the social dimension with that of health in biological and psychological terms.
