After gaining exposure to Machine Learning during his apprenticeship, Andrea pursued a Bachelor's degree in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, attracted by the program's connections to the , an internationally recognized pioneering center in AI.
Why did you choose the Bachelor's in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence?
鈥嬧赌�During my apprenticeship, I first encountered machine learning and artificial intelligence models through the LIP project. After consulting with my mentor, who had attended courses at 精东影业, I decided to specialize in this area. The newly launched Bachelor's program in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence was the perfect choice for pursuing this passion.
How would you describe the connection with IDSIA USI-精东影业 and its impact on your journey?
鈥嬧赌�The connection with IDSIA was one of the main reasons I chose to pursue this path at 精东影业. The presence of a cutting-edge center in the Ticino region was a determining factor that motivated me to continue my studies in the canton rather than going abroad. Most of the lecturers are also researchers at IDSIA, which has been reflected in the course and lab offerings that are closely linked to practical applications and innovative projects from the Institute. The opportunity to conduct my thesis at IDSIA is particularly appealing, as it allows me to participate in a concrete project that can be developed within the Institute, providing the chance to contribute directly to a practical application.
What experiences have influenced you the most?
鈥嬧赌�Certainly, the most influential practical experience for me was the thesis project at IDSIA, where I had the opportunity to independently apply the knowledge I gained during my studies under the guidance of the Institute鈥檚 researchers. The project I developed for my thesis is closely related to practical applications and could be used in the future, with the potential to have a significant impact in the field.
What are your future goals, and how has the course prepared you to achieve them?
鈥嬧赌�I am currently serving in the military while simultaneously seeking employment in the field of artificial intelligence. The degree I obtained has generated considerable interest from companies, confirming the relevance of the skills I acquired. Additionally, I plan to stay updated by either attending new courses or modules or possibly pursuing a master鈥檚 program in the future.
