Course Text Info
During a one-week workshop that starts in the DACD campus FabLab and culminates at Lugano鈥檚 LongLake Festival, Master鈥檚 students from Swiss and international universities of applied sciences will receive an overview of participatory sensing practices and learn to use FabLab tools to transform raw information into tangible prototypes. Smart devices, Raspberry-Pi-based camera kits, and open-source applications will gather multimodal evidence able to portray urban behaviours and daily routines while giving participants first-hand experience with privacy-aware data collection strategies. By granting access to these measurable traces, the activity intends to make the impact of data palpable, spark public dialogue, and encourage experimentation with computer-vision techniques.
Course Text Info
Citizen-driven urban sensing is emerging as a creative approach that empowers people to understand, question, and shape the data that flow through everyday city life, thereby increasing agency and stimulating collaborative research.
Course Text Info
The aim of the workshop is to promote citizen-driven data visualization and physicalization as design practices that reveal hidden layers of information, support the investigation of complex urban phenomena, and inspire more sustainable, responsive city ecosystems.
