Digital Transformation of production systems

The current industrial revolution is based on the convergence of the real and the virtual worlds. The real world provides a huge amount of data, exploited by the virtual one to produce reliable analyses and forecasts, able to effectively support tactical and strategic management of the company.

SPS-lab manages the digital transformation, its technologies, and its impacts on each phase of the company's life cycle, from process design, manufacturing operations, optimization, and day-to-day management.

Industrial sustainability

Manufacturing solutions with a good sustainability profile are the crucial responsibility industry has in making the green deal successful.

SPS-Lab supports manufacturing companies in their sustainability-enhancing journey with comprehensive data-driven approaches to promote:

the adoption of sustainable strategies and business models
the implementation of low-impacting technologies and supply chains
the design and manufacturing of circular and life-cycle sustainable products.

Education

The SPS Laboratory forms the backbone of the Bachelor's degree in Engineering and Management. Interaction with the lab's research activities enriches the educational experience of students, who are exposed to cutting-edge research, technologies and industrial practices related to digitisation, automation and sustainability in manufacturing.

Thanks to collaboration with strategic industrial partners, such as , the lab is equipped with state-of-the-art professional tools, ensuring a practical experience that is strongly geared towards the world of work. The students thus have the opportunity to get to grips with concrete and innovative technological solutions, acquiring skills that are immediately spendable in the industrial context.
