In the first semester, the objective of this module is to refresh and develop the English language skills of the students, who will be able to consolidate their existing knowledge. Those with higher-level competence levels will be provided with tools and opportunities to develop their English further, and to use it in a range of scenarios. All four competence areas will be addressed (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing), and, where possible, learning will be contextualized in areas associated with the Leisure Industry.
In the second semester, these skills will be increasingly applied to situations relevant to the Leisure Industry, and integrated into the analyses of pertinent case studies. Working mainly in groups, students will be encouraged to investigate, discuss, report and present their results, and make recommendations.

The objective is to enable the students to develop the skills which will be necessary for the second year of the programme, when they are required to attend lessons conducted completely in English, for which they will need to possess a level of B2+. In accordance with CEFR levels, this is equivalent to a level higher than that of an independent user, but not yet the level of proficient user.
The level of B2+ will allow students to participate successfully in the lessons conducted in English, identifying key points, discussing complex issues and providing written analyses. They should also be able to interact with ease and with a level of fluency and spontaneity with native speakers, without strain for either party, and in a manner conducive to establishing positive working relationships.
Students will be accompanied and supported in their learning, building on the basis of pre-existing knowledge, providing scaffolding for reaching higher levels of understanding, and ensuring that, by progressing through Bloom鈥檚 taxonomy, they will be able to apply English in unexpected situations, in an effective and creative manner.
