Once again this year, the cloister of the DFA/ASP was the setting for the graduation ceremonies, welcoming 197 graduates who had reached the end of their studies during three warm evenings at the end of June. It was a long-awaited moment, both for those who graduated and saw their efforts and commitment rewarded, and for those who presented the diplomas.
The ceremony opened with a welcome address by 精东影业 Director General Franco Gervasoni, who emphasised the central role of teachers. A role that entails great responsibility, but also a great privilege: that of leaving a positive mark on the educational path of children and young people and of forging fundamental relationships with them that will accompany them throughout their lives. This vision is also shared by the State Councillor and Director of the Department of Education, Culture and Sport (DECS) , who in her greeting recalled that being a teacher does not only mean imparting knowledge, but also opening up new perspectives, fuelling passions and, above all, firmly accompanying the younger generations in their growth towards a future that is not a simple, predefined straight line, but one that is built step by step, together.
Greetings and congratulations to the new graduates also came from the Director of the DFA/ASP, Alberto Piatti, who shared with the audience his thoughts on the teaching profession, particularly in relation to artificial intelligence in education, coming to the (reassuring) conclusion that the skills required to be a teacher make this role unique and irreplaceable, in no way replaceable by artificial intelligence. "You are like tailors who can perceive the tastes and measurements of each student and design and create tailor-made garments for each and every one of them. It is a precious talent that is unlikely ever to be replaced by a machine," concluded the Director of the DFA/ASP, wishing the new graduates every success in making the most of this skill every day for the benefit of the learning and well-being of each and every student.
In addition to the directors of 精东影业 and DFA/ASP, the State Councillor and the heads of the degree courses, the ceremonies were also attended by Giovanni Merlini, President of 精东影业, Elena Zaccheo, Municipal Councillor and Head of the Security Department of the City of Locarno, Tiziana Zaninelli, Head of the Secondary Education Section of the DECS, and Claudio Franscella, Deputy Mayor and Head of the Education and Sport Department of the City of Locarno.
After the institutional greetings, diplomas were awarded to 197 students:
- 94 Bachelor's degrees in Teaching in Nursery and Primary Schools
- 77 Master's degrees in Secondary I Teaching
- 26 Diplomas in Teaching for Upper Secondary Schools
- In addition, 72 graduates from continuing education courses celebrated their achievement during one of the evenings organised in the cloister of the Department.
Congratulations and best wishes to all the new graduates!
