Compounded by the international geopolitical situation, in recent years we have all become somewhat interested in energy issues, learning that understanding them was not always obvious. Certainly, the topic of supply, self-generation and sustainability have become more familiar, and many property owners, from small landlords to large real estate groups, have surely been asking themselves the question of whether it was worth at least taking an interest in installing a few photovoltaic panels on their roofs.
The private initiative is one of the pieces that make up a larger mosaic in which local governments play a dual role. That of first consultants for those interested in exploiting new energy vectors, benefiting from incentives and fostering best practices; but also that of promoters and principals of infrastructure works and initiatives in neighborhoods, within their own borders and at the regional level in inter-municipal collaboration.
In Ticino, there is no shortage of virtuous examples of both projects and municipalities that spend themselves in providing energy-related information to their citizenry.
Today we will bring you two examples, while also questioning what the world of education and research can contribute to the energy transition.
We do so with:
Viola Ferdani: head of the Energy and Sustainability Office of the Municipality of Stabio;
Gabriele Martinenghi: head of the Environment and Climate Sector of the City of Mendrisio;
Marco Belliardi: researcher for the Energy and Territory Sector of the Institute for Applied Sustainability in the Built Environment at 精东影业.
